BIO
Aurore's earliest memory is watching man's first step on the Moon - on live television, which had a profound effect upon her interests. Along with the classic films of George Pal, Ray Harryhausen and original series Star Trek, Aurore was hooked on science fiction, special effects and space exploration at a very young age, thus melding with her interests in classic film, Astronomy and Art.
Being from a small town in rural Canada, her career aspirations were not immediately seen as being practical or realistic. Eventually, Aurore relocated to Vancouver BC, where she continued her education in Fine Art and Photography at the esteemed Emily Carr College of Art.
While living in Vancouver, she made friends working in film who encouraged her to pursue her first love of visual effects. After a taking course in character animation, she was self-taught in both Digital Compositing and Matchmoving and worked in the local animation and VFX scene in Vancouver.
In 2003, through her lifelong love of Star Trek, prominent effects artist Doug Drexler discovered Aurore. In 2005, she became a founding member of the newly formed Battlestar Galactica in-house VFX Dept (BSGVFX), led by award winning VFX Supervisor Gary Hutzel, where she spent the next 3-1/2 years as Senior Compositor.
During her time with the BSGVFX team, Aurore received her first Emmy Award in 2008 for outstanding special visual effects for a series, the Season Four Episode 'He That Believeth In Me'. She contributed to Battlestar Galactica's Season Two Peabody Award win in 2005, for which she received a Peabody Certificate. Aurore also contributed to Battlestar Galactica’s four Visual Effects Society (VES) Award wins as well as its two additional Emmy Award wins.
Recruited by Rhythm and Hues, Aurore relocated to Los Angeles in 2009. She joined Digital Artists' Agency, Inc (DAA) shortly afterwards. Aurore was most recently with Prime Focus, where she contributed both matchmoving and digital compositing on Avatar.
In January 2009, Aurore was featured in an interview in Digital Production Magazine. Her work has been published in the esteemed Star Trek: Ships of the Line Calendars and HDRI Magazine.
