EXPERIENCE

DREAMWORKS ANIMATION, Glendale, CA
July 2005 -present - Digital Matte Painter
Contributed digital matte painted environments for current slate of animation projects at studio utilizing Maya, Photohop CS2, Vue 6 Infinite, and proprietary software.

  • Currently Lead Matte Painter on “Kung Fu Panda”. Spearheaded creation of 360 degree environments utilizing Vue 6 Infinite for base painting and camera projecting in Maya.
  • Completed several exterior London environments for Aardman’s “Flushed Away”.
  • Created backgrounds for “Shrek the Third” and Jerry Seinfeld’s “Bee Movie”.

R!OT PICTURES, Santa Monica, CA April 2005
Texture Painter
Created textures and shaders for an entirely CG environment in Robert Rodriguez’s film “The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl”.

  • Utilized Maya 6.5 to develop and apply textures to CG models under the art direction and supervision of Michele Moen.
  • Integrated cg models into plate photography by matching lighting with global illumination in the Mental Ray renderer.

Collaborated with a small group of talented visual effects artists to deliver shots on time and with in budget.

  • Designed conceptual sketches and created visually dynamic 3D environments for Warner Brothers feature film “Catwoman”.
  • Completed digital matte painting for Touchstone Pictures “The Alamo” based on a sketch by Chris Evans.
  • Collaborated with Matte Artist, Chris Stoski, in creation of 3D matte painting of 1876 San Francisco for Warner Brothers feature film, “The Last Samurai”.
  • Received training as matte artist by working closely with Craig Barron, Chris Evans, and Sean Joyce on digital matte paintings from concept design to shot completion.

Assisted Alan Sonneman in creation of two digital matte paintings for Warner Brothers ShoWest convention promotion.

  • Designed matte paintings with photographic based elements to realize directors vision on a short production schedule.
  • Created all 3D aspects of digital matte paintings including NURBS based geometry, camera animation, and camera projection in Maya.
