DIGITAL ARTISTS AGENCY (DAA) SIGNS
NOTED VFX SUPERVISOR SCOTT SQUIRES

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 20th, 2006) – Digital Artists Agency (DAA) has signed noted visual effects supervisor Scott Squires, it was announced today by agency president Robert Coleman. Squires will be exclusively represented by DAA for feature film, television and commercial VFX projects. Coleman also announced that the agency has moved to larger quarters to accommodate its growing talent roster and staff.

A visual effects supervisor and director at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) for twenty years, Squires received visual effects Oscar nominations for his work on “Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace,” “Dragonheart,” and “The Mask.” In 1994 he was honored with a Scientific and Engineering Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his pioneering work in the area of film input scanning.

Among his other feature film credits at ILM are “Van Helsing,” “Time Machine,” “Starship Troopers,” “Radioland Murders.” “The Hunt For Red October,” “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” “Willow” and “The Witches Of Eastwick.”

Squires also has extensive commercial credits to his name, including spots he both directed and vfx-supervised. Among these are BMW “Reflections,” Levis “Pants,” Wet Ones “Sticky,” Skittles “UFO,” Hewlett Packard Laser Jet “Knievel,” and “Leap Frog.”

Squires, whose career began with the development of the Cloud Tank Effect for “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” founded Puffin Designs, Inc. in 1997 to market Commotion, a software package he developed for rotoscoping, animation and compositing. Puffin Designs was later acquired by software manufacturer Pinnacle Systems, now a division of Avid, in 2000.

In 1979, Squires co-founded Dream Quest Images and was a visual effects supervisor, as well as the company's president, for six years. During that time, he worked on “Blue Thunder,” “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai,” “Deal of the Century,” “One From the Heart” and “Blade Runner.”
